Punjab postpones University Semester Exams: Punjab State Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has announced that the university exams in the state will be postponed for the final year students. According to the announcement made, the examinations have been postponed until July 15, 2020. The announcement also states that the final decision regarding the exams will be based on the new directions or guidelines set by the University Grants Commissions. 

The State Chief Minister also stated that the postponement of the exams will give the students, and universities time to adapt and align with the new guidelines which will be issued by the UGC. officials also added that the Chief Minister felt that there was a need to solve the confusion in the minds of the students, teachers, and parents with regard to conducting the examination for the students.

The universities in the state had taken a decision to conduct the exams for the final year students in July as per the guidelines issued by the UGC in April 2020. The University Grants Commission has announced that a review of the situation will be conducted again although a decision regarding the academic activities, especially conducting the examinations is also awaited from the UGC.

UGC Guidelines

According to the earlier guidelines issued by the UGC, the Semester examinations are scheduled to be conducted from July 2020 onwards. The UGC  has issued guidelines for universities across the country to conduct the semester examinations. The guidance also suggests that the classes for the other semester students will begin from August 2020 while the classes for the new students will be conducted from September 2020. Punjab postpones University Semester Exams

Some of the universities across the country have decided to conduct the semester examinations for the students in the online mode while some of the universities will be conducting the exam in the pen and paper mode.
