UGC Final Year Exam Guidelines Updates : The UGC decided to announce the revised guidelines for final year exams after the HRD ministry asked the UGC to reconsider the guidelines it had earlier issued for conducting the examination and starting a new academic session.
The revised guidelines for the final-semester and final year university exams and admission process for the universities across the country is likely to be announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday (today). However, the UGC has made no official announcement regarding the date of the declaration of the new guidelines.
The UGC is expected to cancel the examinations amid calls to defer the exams as students’ and teachers’ bodies from across the country are demanding that the final-semester and final year exams should be cancelled in view of the coronavirus pandemic, which has afflicted over 6 lakh people in the country.
The UGC decided to announce the revised guidelines for final year exams after the Union Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) asked the UGC to reconsider the guidelines it had earlier issued for conducting the examination and starting a new academic session.
The Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in a tweet last week, however, had hinted at conducting the final year exams with new guidelines focusing at safety and health concerns. He had tweeted, “I have advised the @ugc_india to revisit the guidelines issued earlier for intermediate and Terminal Semester examinations and academic calendar. The foundation for revisited guidelines shall be health and safety students, teachers and staff.”will ugc cancel final year exam
Earlier in April, the UGC had issued guidelines for the exams and admission process for the universities. The UGC had said asked the universities to conduct exams of final year and final semester students in July. The guidelines also said that students of intermediate semesters should be promoted on the basis of their internal assessment and performance in the previous semester exam.
However, in wake of the coronavirus pandemic, many states have called for the cancellation of university exams. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray in June first week announced that the universities in the state will not be conducting any final year exams and will promote the students based on their past performance.

बता दें, यूजीसी ने पहले निर्णय लिया था कि विश्वविद्यालयों की फाइल ईयर की परीक्षाओं का आयोजन होना चाहिए. वहीं फर्स्ट ईयर के छात्रों को सेकंड ईयर में प्रमोट कर दिया जाएगा. उन्हें नंबर इंटरनल असेसमेंट के आधार पर दिए जाएंगे. बता दें, कोरोना वायरस के केस एक जुलाई तक कम होने की उम्मीद थी, जो नहीं हुए हैं. अब, छात्रों और अभिभावकों के अलावा कई राज्य सरकारें भी इसका विरोध कर रही हैं.

यूजीसी की ओर से पहले जारी किए गए दिशानिर्देशों के अनुसार यह भी बताया गया था कि विश्वविद्यालय और कॉलेज एक बार फिर से कैसे काम करेंगे. नए बैच के लिए सितंबर से कॉलेजों को फिर से खोलने की उम्मीद थी और अगस्त से छात्रों को दाखिला मिलना शुरू होना था.

यूजीसी ने पहले के दिशानिर्देशों में, कॉलेजों और विश्वविद्यालयों को ऑनलाइन शिक्षा जारी रखने के लिए सुझाव दिया था. साथ ही कहा था कि यदि स्थिति में सुधार होता है तो कम से कम 25 प्रतिशत सिलेबस ऑनलाइन कवर किया जाए. वहीं यूजीसी संभवत आज गाइडलाइंस जारी करेगा, जिनके आधार पर नये एकेडमिक सेशन का कामकाज और पेंडिंग परीक्षाओं का भविष्य तय होगा.
